BEX PRADE

BA, IFMCP, DIP CNM, mBANT, mCNHC

I’m a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and Clinical Nutritionist with ten years of clinical experience. After 27 years in London, I’m now based in Australia, continuing to work online with clients in the UK and further afield.

My approach to health began long before I discovered functional medicine. I grew up on a farm in New Zealand, where eating seasonally, growing our own food and cooking from scratch were simply part of everyday life. We didn’t think of it as a particular way of eating. It was just how we ate.

That upbringing has stayed with me, although my understanding of health has developed considerably since. Through my clinical training and years working with clients, I’ve become increasingly interested in the complex relationship between nutrition, genetics, hormones, metabolism, gut health and the environments we live in.

Today, my work combines that appreciation for good food with the science and investigative approach of functional medicine. I believe in understanding the individual, asking better questions and using the evidence to make informed, practical decisions about their health.

I take the science seriously, but I’m still very much a Kiwi at heart: practical, straightforward and not interested in making health unnecessarily complicated.

I like to understand the detail, ask plenty of questions and explain the findings in a way that makes sense. From there, it’s about using the right combination of nutrition, lifestyle changes and targeted supplementation to make a meaningful difference, while being realistic about the life you’re actually living.

GOOD FOOD, WITHOUT THE DOGMA

I’ve always loved good food, and I want my clients to enjoy it too, without feeling they need to analyse every meal.

There’s a place for structure and precision, particularly when we’re addressing specific health concerns. But that doesn’t mean endless food rules, unnecessary restrictions or taking the pleasure out of eating.

I believe in good-quality, seasonal food, plenty of variety and an approach that makes sense for your body and your life. Understanding nutrition should give you more freedom around food, not less.
